1) If you are aged 15 as of May 1, 2008 or younger, you can audition for The Next Star.

2) Your Regional Release Form must be signed by a parent or legal guardian. It can be obtained either online at thenextstar.ytv.com or at the designated audition sites on the designated audition dates. If you are not being accompanied to the audition by a parent or legal guardian you must bring a signed release with you.

3) You can accompany yourself (play and sing) with a musical instrument in your audition. You are allowed to bring any type of instrument you wish as long as you are able to sing and play at the same time. You must be able to carry your instrument with you throughout the audition process.

4) You will NOT be at any disadvantage in the audition process if you choose to sing WITHOUT instrumental accompaniment.

5) Registration opens at 7 a.m. and continues through to 9 a.m. If you arrive after 9 a.m., you will NOT be guaranteed an audition spot.

6) The auditions are first-come, first-seen. It is up to you to decide when to arrive at the auditions. Anticipate line-ups. Everyone that shows up before 9 a.m. on the day of auditions will be seen.

7) Venues open at 6 a.m. on the day of auditions. Participants arriving before this time will be turned away by security.

8) The best source for information about auditions is The Next Star website at thenextstar.ytv.com.

9) Food and drink can USUALLY be purchased at the venue. However, it is always a good idea to bring a few bottles of water.

10) You must be a Canadian Citizen or Landed Immigrant - NO STUDENT VISAS.

11) You must bring one piece of ID which must include a RECENT photo.

12) Please plan accordingly with respect to travel and accommodation arrangements -- the audition process can take several days if you continue to advance through the competition.

13) Bring friends and family with you to support you through the audition process. No guests - including parents and guardians - are allowed into the audition room with you.

14) DRESS TO IMPRESS but please, BE YOURSELF and let your personality shine! If you want to be on TV, do NOT wear clothes with visible logos, trademarks or offensive language. Also, please do not arrive dressed as a celebrity, living or dead, or bear any resemblance to a character in a movie, TV show, musical or play.

15) We are searching for Canada's best young singer but also be prepared to tell us a little about yourself. What are your interests, hobbies and other talents? What makes you stand out above the crowd?
