GalaXseeds, the first game in The Big Rip network of MMOGs, launched on Valentine's Day of 2007. Yours truly, MrSock – the sockiest one – had a hand in developing the game, and I'm gonna tell you aaaalll about it! So get comfy. And if you can't get comfy, at least make sure you're not sitting on any knitting needles, cuz that'll go a long way towards comfying you up.



Customization to the Nth!
Before I tell you about GalaXseeds, I have to tell you about MMOGs. MMOG stands for Massively Multiplayer Online Game. You've probably played one already – Club Penguin, Runescape, Yohoho! Puzzle Pirates and Nicktropolis are all MMOGs. If you haven't played an MMOG, you're really missing out!

In an MMOG, you get to pick a character to represent yourself. Usually, you get to customize that character to make it look exactly how you want it to look. In GalaXseeds, the characters are all really weird alien/robot things. You can choose a different piece for each body zone – head, body, left arm, right arm and legs. I think it's really cool that you can choose a different piece for each arm, and that your character walks differently depending on which pieces you choose.

Some MMOGs let you paint your shoes or your shirt. We wanted to have a LOT of customization in GalaXseeds, so we let you paint EVERY body part separately. You can even choose from a huge pallette that has hundreds of different colours in it.

As a GalaXseeds Seedizen (that's a play on "citizen" if you don't know), you join a Clan. Each Clan lives on a different planet. Eventually, players from different Clans will have to band together and compete in different Missions. (designer note: We couldn't finish the Missions system for launch, which is a real bummer, but it's TOTALLY something to look forward to!) Once you choose a Clan, you're stuck with it, but you can still visit any planet you want by using the Teleplanters.

As a GalaXseeds Seedizen, you get your own Pod. It's like your room or your house, with a few differences: it splits open like a clamshell into two halves! On one half is your living space where you can put furniture, which we call Gear. On the other half is a garden where you can grow some crazy plants. You can paint your Pod any colour you want, and you can choose from a few different patterns to customize it even more.

The way you arrange the Gear in your Pod is up to you. The Plants you grow are up to you. The costumes you wear (we call them "Get-ups") are all up to you. You can even bring your Get-ups and Gear items to a store called the Workshop to have them painted different colours!
