The Best and Worst TV Series to Movies
Hey yo! Today I want to count down some of the best (and maybe worst) television to movie franchises ever made! These TV series had such a large fan base, that a full (or even several) movies were made for the big screen! Do you remember them all? Let's see which ones made our list!
When you're with the Flintstones / Have a yabba dabba doo time / A dabba doo time / We'll have a gay old time!
G.I. Joe The Rise of Cobra / G.I. Joe Retaliation
The TV series was great, the movies, maybe not so much! But they did have some great action sequences! Basically, Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow saved the movies from being your regular run of the mill Hollywood action flick.
Pokémon: The First Movie
Who could forget your first Pokemon movie going experience at the theatre? And this scene where virtually everyone cried? Come on, admit it!
Initial D The Movie
You would think being as popular as this anime was, that the Japanese would make their own live action movie at some point. But that's not what happened. Initial D was so popular in Hong Kong, China, that they decided to get the rights to make the movie themselves rather than wait for the Japanese studios to do it. It turns out the film wasn't half bad, although purists were pretty angry the Japanese didn't do it first!
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie
Power Rangers. In a movie. Come on son!
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
This list cannot be complete without the original TMNT, the best one, really. All the sequels cannot compare. A great example of how a well made film with a good plot and characters can go on to boost and even immortalize a cartoon series and make it a household franchise!
The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie
While it may not have been as great as The Simpsons movie, it was still a solid effort and offered great laughs from Spongebob and Patrick. We wish it included a bit more of the other characters, but the movie really centered around the two main stars of the show.
The first in the film series was a great popcorn rock 'em sock 'em robots action flick. The rest... turned out just tiring and uninspired. It was a good film adaptation while it lasted!
While likely not the worst movie adaptation of a cartoon ever, this one had a mixed reaction from fans and movie goers. Some enjoyed it and thought it wasn't too bad, while some others thought it was horrible. After making the highly successful "The Matrix" series, you would think the Wachowskis wouldn't bomb so hard at the box office though.
The Green Hornet
Okay, let's face it, without Bruce Lee in the original TV series Green Hornet, we wouldn't even likely remember it. This attempt to cash in on the series had good intentions and some moments that worked, but sadly the film itself fell flat because... well Jay Chou can't really replace Bruce Lee (no one could) and the movie was just mediocre overall.
The Last Airbender
Ah-ha! Very funny! This is probably the absolute worst movie ever made off a TV series, ever. Actually, it sits right up there with Dragonball: Evolution, which was a big pile of stinky dung in its own right. Basically, everything that was beloved in the TV series is changed and butchered, and the film itself was so terribly acted and plotted, neither hardcore fans of the series or casual movie goers liked it! Total stink bomb!
We included this one just for the giggles. Or to make you really angry. Seriously, don't waste your time with this movie. It is so jaw droppingly bad and a total disgrace to Dragonball fans worldwide because it takes nothing from the source material and makes everything up on its own! The lameness is OVER 9000!!!!!
